Road Locomotive Society

The enhancement of education and research into the past history of all types of self propelling steam engines

Winter Meeting 7th March 2026

Milestones Museum, Basingstoke

Dave Wothers will present a selection of photographs and draw on his knowledge of steam boilers giving us a talk on the details of the Medina County Fair boiler explosion and general other ‘interesting’ steam vessels he has encountered.
After the tea break, Paul Ransley will present an illustrated talk on the restoration of his Fowler ploughing engine No. 1908 of 1873 which should inspire us all.

The room will be available from 1pm onwards for a 1:30pm start with mid-afternoon break for tea.

Milestones Museum is worth a visit prior to the meeting with Wallis & Steevens, Tasker and Thomycroft road steam exhibits on display. The museum has its own cafe for those wanting a snack or drink and there is a Beefeater pub ‘The Spruce Goose’ by the Leisure Complex on the approach road.
